The Annapolis Valley and upper Bay of Fundy of
Nova Scotia's Evangeline Trail boast some of the best soils & climatic conditions in eastern Canada. The region is recognized as the 3rd most important fruit growing area in Canada, and is noted for its orchards and vineyards.
Yet the fertile soils and mild climate have not happened by chance, but are the result of an intimate relationship between earth history, geology, tides and ecology, a unique set of circumstances that were as important to the French Acadians settlers of the 1600s, as they are to the vineyards and wineries of the 21st century.
Join us on this unique adventure through time as we explore the evolution of this land, discover the history and culture of the Acadians and the story of Evangeline at Grand Pre National Historic Site, and sample the wines of the region at a local winery.

Easy going, informative & fun! This tour has broad appeal & touches on the connections between the tides, landscapes, geology, climate, soils, ecology and human history through the appropriate use of stories, props and analogies. Gift shops available for interested parties at Grand Pre National Historic site and the wineries. Good opportunities for photography. Excellent opportunities to see migratory birds (sandpipers) in July.
